RCDC Developed Heat Decarbonisation Plans (HDPs) for the Arts University Bournemouth to support the replacement of the existing boilers within the North Building boiler room with Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs), to provide a fully electric heating and Domestic Hot Water (DHW) services to the building. The boilers are to be replaced by a highly efficient and electric system of Water Source Heat Pumps (WSHP) and the Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) as the primary heat source.
The replacement of the existing gas fired boilers in the North Building, one of the oldest buildings on the site, will remove the use of fossil fuel heating for the buildings which are currently served by the existing gas boiler, alongside the associated carbon emissions.
The proposed works are expected to reduce the existing fossil fuel energy consumption by approximately 61%. and reduce the existing carbon emissions by about 62% annually. This project contributes to Arts University Bournemouth's wider goal to achieve a Net Zero Carbon campus.
This projects is a PSDS Phase 3 Bid, submitted with AUB, that is currently under construction.
